Red was molded into a soldier for a group of mercenaries after being tortured and losing the love of his life. He vows for revenge.
Ms. Miller wrote Red as a great character. She let you get to know him but yet there was always an air of mystery about him. Reagan has worked hard for her family. She doesn't have a social life but when she meets Red she fall for him. She does not know what he does and she is devastated when he leaves. The story spans years and you see both characters grow. They have never forgot each other and when Reagan is in trouble Red is there.
Even though there was romance between Red and Reagan there was plenty of suspense, mercenary revenge and violence, mystery and action. All of the other characters had an air of mystery around them also. As Red looses a true love can he really find a second chance at love? Can Reagan accept him for who he is? I have not read any other books by London Miller but she writes great characters and makes you want to read her other books.
If you want a Mafia read with a dose of romance and strong characters then I recommend this read.
